In Jerash city, to the north of Amman, Al- Dadeel Center
concluded the second training workshop (which lasted for two
days "22-23/11/2013 in Ghusn Al- Zaytoun Hotel") for women
capacity building, with participation of activist women in
the party and municipal work. This workshop comes within the
context of women empowerment and capacity building in the
field of political parties.
Based on the important role of
women participation in the political process, in a way that
is consistent with the national and international
regulations, as the Jordanian constitution insured,
guaranteed and urged women to participate in political work,
but still, a number of women who join political parties is
not on the required level. In addition, the local studies,
especially the results of the study that was implemented by
Al- Badeel Studies Center and that were launched with the
beginning of the project five months ago. This study used
the qualitative methodology to examine the status of women
existence in the leftist political parties, with the use of
focused discussion groups, in participation with women who
are activist in the leftist parties as well as other women.
The questions of the study focused on the status of women in
the parties, the reasons of their weak participation, the
role of bylaws of the leftist parties in women empowerment
and the mechanisms of expanding women participation.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Wahid
Qarmesh, the Director of Al- Badeel Center stated that this
workshop intends to build women capacities through the use
of modern communication means, empowering women to raise
their capacities in the field of leadership, gain support;
campaign mechanisms and enhancing women participation in the
leftist political parties".
The project aims at – according to
Mr. Qarmesh- to enhance, activate and increase women
participation, and to increase the number of women's
participation in the public organizations such as
associations, NGOs, municipalities, parliament and political
parties; empowering women and providing them with the skills
of leadership, dialogue, negotiations, networking, gaining
support, exchanging experience, making use of the women who
are pioneers in the political work.
The training content of the
workshop included two themes:
women's political participation, the importance of political
work, theoretical awareness and supporting women's position
to reach leadership and decision making occupations.
Trainer Riyadh Soboh presented
practical applications that linked theory with issues of
where trainer Hayfa Haydar presented the skills of
leadership, communication, networking, management of
dialogue and negotiations. This training focused on the
needs of women in the societies, municipalities, parties, as
well as the necessary skills in this field to enable woman
be present and participate efficiently.
At the end of the workshop, the
participants discussed through dialogue the means to gain
the support of the public opinion, enhancing participation,
and presented a number of recommendations, namely: building
the capacities and raising the level of thought and
political awareness especially those who work in the
municipal field; the importance of using practical
mechanisms that can enhance women leadership.
In conclusion of the workshop, the
Chairman of Al- Badeel Center, Mr. Jamal Al- Khateeb, Mr.
Salman Nakresh (Director of civil society organizations-
