In participation with 30 activist women of various
political, leftist currents, municipal work and local
community, Al Badeel Studies and Research Center concluded
the first training workshop in women capacity building in
Petra. The workshop (Friday and Saturday, 25/26/10/2013)
comes within the context of enhancing women participation in
the political parties, due to significant role of women in
the political life, which reflect the comprehensively
concept and the rights insured by the Jordanian legislation.
However, the number of women who join political parties is
not on the required level. In addition, the local studies,
especially the results of the study that was implemented by
Al- Badeel Studies Center and that were launched with the
beginning of the project five months ago. This study used
the qualitative methodology to examine the status of women
existence in the leftist political parties, with the use of
focused discussion groups, in participation with women who
are activist in the leftist parties as well as other women.
The questions of the study focused on the status of women in
the parties, the reasons of their weak participation, the
role of bylaws of the leftist parties in women empowerment
and the mechanisms of expanding women participation.
The project included the preparation of a study on the
status of women and their participation in the Jordanian
leftist parties; a training program to encourage the
Jordanian women engage in the political life, to enhance the
capacities in the field of communication, networking,
leadership skills and preparing projects and campaigns, not
to forget the need to motivate women who have social

beginning of the workshop, Mr. Wahid Qarmesh, the Director
of Al- Badeel Center addressed a speech confirming that this
workshop intends to build women capacities through the use
of modern communication means, raising women capacities in
leadership and having skills to gain support and to learn
about the mechanisms of making campaigns.

The training content
The training content of workshop dealt with two themes,
First: women's political participation, the importance of
political work, theoretical awareness and supporting women's
position to reach leadership and decision making positions.
Trainer Riyadh Soboh presented practical applications that
linked theory with issues of human rights.
Second: possessing of leadership skills, communication,
networking, management of dialogue and negotiations.
At the end of the workshop, the participants discussed
through dialogue the means to gain the support of the public
opinion, the available community resources and the role of
man in supporting woman.
The participants presented a number of recommendations that
intend to enhance woman's role and efficient participation
in the political process.
At the end of the workshop, the Chairman of Al- Badeel
Center, Mr. Jamal Al- Khateeb, Mr. Salman Nakresh (Director
of civil society organizations- parliament council) and the
Director of Al- Badeel Center, Mr. Wahid Qarmesh,
distributed the certificates to the participants.
